If the jacket is an open type, and measurement is hard to give that way, the measurement given is for the back width, seam to seam, underarm. Hips are measured in the widest spot below the waistline, lied flat, seam to seam, then doubled. Shoulders are measured seam to seam on the very top of the item. If no seams are available, there is only a total sleeve length measurement from neckline to end of cuff. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam to end of cuff. If no seams are available (like in raglan sweaters), the sleeve is measured from neckline on the side to the end of cuff. Length is measured from the based of the collar to end of hem on the bottom, lied flat.
