This timeless classic is not only wonderfully wearable, it is a piece of history as the suit was designed by Ms. Coco herself or at least while she was still at the helm. This Chanel Haute Couture suit captures the amazing quality, elegance, timelessness, and craftmanship of having a piece of clothing made entirely by hand by artisans - and designed by Coco Chanel herself no less! Chanel haute couture suits today start at approximately $25K (and go over $125K) and vintage Chanel haute couture suits like this one is being sought and worn by chicest celebrities and socialites. This is a classic and absolutely timeless suit - and this style has been repeated many times over the years. This Chanel suit is an elegant, rich medley of navy blue, black, taupe, and cream and the fabric wool/wool blend in a bold and modern tweed pattern with classic Chanel boucle trim. The jacket is the classic Chanel shorter length with a feminine fit featuring a semi-mandarin collar, single breast closure with five buttons (navy resin buttons original to the suit pre Chanel logo), two buttoned cuffs, two front pockets. The neckline, both sides down the front, pockets and sleeves are trimmed in Chanel boucle in navy blue which adds a nice contrast in texture. The jacket is nicely shaped with a gently fitted waist and slightly flared hem. The craftmanship is incredible and self evident in the 13 panels across the body, the classic Chanel haute couture touch of sewn through lining through the outer fabric for seamless, bulkless look and fit. The lining is matching colored dark navy blue and the gold chain lines the inside hem of jacket. The matching skirt is a slight A-line shape, silk waistband, off-center, on-seam zipper and double hook & eye closure in the back - another classic signature of haute couture construction (more comfortable). The details and craftmanship of this skirt beyond the fit, the look, are beyond fabulous - a star piece in its own right! The skirt is flat from the waist to the hips -- for a slim, figure friendly line. From the hips down, there are very thin sewn through pleating that gives the skirt a lovely line and slight yet controlled flare at the hem. The skirt like the jacket also features silk lining with sewn through treatment, and 13 panels to ensure the lines of the suit are elegant, fits perfectly, and flattering on the body. The matching blouse is a wonderful piece that not only works perfectly with the suit but can be worn on its own. A feminine cut and wonderfully detailed the vest blouse is made of exceptional quality heavier gage silk. It is beautifully cut for a sexy fit and there are lovely stitching desgin down the front on both sides. A V-neckline with 6 button closure (matches buttons on jacket) and a gold chain lines the inside hem. The vest blouse can be worn outside the skirt or inside for a dress-like effect (matching silk on the skirt waistband). As customary with haute couture, this Chanel suit was completely made by hand and it features 'sewn-through' -- sort of quilted effect without the bulk -- lining that ensures the garment looks and fits perfectly - really amazing craftmanship! This is one gorgeous suit and a wonderful collector's Chanel Haute Couture that is also incredibly wearable and versatile. Each piece will mix and match nicely with infinite possibilities. The Chanel Haute Couture suit was very gently worn maybe 2 - 3 times only and remains is in excellent condition inside and outside. The only thing to note is that the suit originally also had a detachable collar? and cuffs that did not 'survive' as evidenced by snaps around the inside of the lining of the collar and inside of sleeves. You can either have a new one made at Chanel or by your tailor or simply have them removed - or even just leave as-is as they are tiny and not at all notable. This fabulous suit will work overtime as the jacket is so chic worn with navy blue, black, white/cream, tan/beige skirt or pants (and fabulous with jeans!) and the skirt is also great on its own - wear it with a great cashmere twinset, turtleneck sweater or a blouse/shirt, etc. And the vest is a great piece to layer under a suit or a worn on its owhn. This Chanel suit is approximately equivalent to a size 36/38-ish with the following measurements taken flat/outside of garment: Jacket - 21 1/4" length (from back bottom of collar to hem), 20" across shoulders (15 1/2" across shoulder seams), 36" bust/underarm, 34" waist, 39" hem, 22 1/2" sleeves; Skirt - 21" length, 26" waist, 39" hips, 58" hem; Vest - 20 1/4" length (from back center to hem), 14 1/2" shoulders, 33" bust/underarm, 29" waist, 36" hem.
