"BY the Sea" features a nautical pattern depicting waves and sailboats in all over red, white and blue color scheme, hand knitted intarsia pattern.It is from the 1993 collection. Red field with off white and navy blue secondary colors. Exquisite ribbing, cuffs,crochet neckline detail. Two fully functionalreal abalone shell buttons on the left shoulder to ease putting on and taking off over child's head. Very few children's sizes were made. They were made especially for a handful of fine specialty boutiques and trunk shows. A true cottage industry- Dia North of Boston sweaters were hand knitted in Stowe, Vermont, USA in copyrighted limited editions of no more 500 among all colors, including the ladies’ as well as the occasional children’s sizes combined. Some editions were much smaller in number, usually 250.
