Description
Deconstructress Designs are all individually crafted custom costume couture. Most are created from deconstructed wedding gowns and some are created from scratch. Each dress is painstakingly created by hand-painting, dyeing, cuttins, sewing, adding and removing. Individual gowns take anywhere from hours to months to create. Every detail is considered when creating a costume based on a specific character. Most importantly, each costume is a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art. These dresses are all handpainted with a specially ordered and hand mixed painting process. The coloring is permanent and the gowns can safely be dry cleaned, Giselle's Wedding Gown Recreationfrom Walt Disney's EnchantedThis was the true challenge of the season for me. Giselle's beautiful wedding dress from Walt Disney's Enchanted was quite the feat to re-create, but it came out insanely beautiful. This dress began its life as three wedding gowns, yards and yards of crystal organza, a six-hooped underskirt, white feathers and lots of metallic paint. It's a beautiful recreation of the gown from the movie, but a bit more wearable. It is full and layered with ruffles, but not nearly as full as the movie gown. While I wanted it to truly represent the movie version, I wanted it to be wearable and comfortable. The movie version actually had TWO hoop skirts underneath it! While beautiful for a film, not quite wearable for a costume party. The bodice of this gown is embroidered and beaded with a flowering vine motif. The beautifully scooped neckline is adorned with a butterfly. I made the butterfly's wings with carefully cut and sculpted feathers and then carefully painted them with shimmering metallic silvers and golds. The body is crystal organza and his antenna are curled sterling silver jewelry wire. There are two satin rose buds over the right hip and another small delicate feather buttefly sits atop one. The far right photo shows the butterfly on the original dress. The two left pictures show the two butterflies on my dress in detail. The sleeves feature not one, not two, but THREE yards of crystal organza each! They gather around the shoulders and are cuffed with bridal satin. Each sleeve has been individually hand painted with flowering vines, open blossoms and swirling patterns. They are painted with a shimmering crystalline paint. The far right photo shows a close up of one of the actual movie gowns. The two left pics are sleeves on my dress. The skirt of this gown begins with a lining of heavy bridal satin. Over that is one layer of heavy netting and five layers of tulle. The left side of the skirt features twenty rows of hand sewn, bias-cut ruffles made of crystal organza. Several rows of ruffles have been sprayed with glitter to create a beautiful sheen and depth. Pictures above are of my dress. Pictures below are of the actual movie dress in an exhibit. The right side of the skirt is draped with heavy bridal satin that sweeps over the organza ruffles. The satin has then been hand painted with crystalline, silvers and golds to emulate embroidery. The patterns are swirling vines and florals which are very similar to the movie version. Hours, and hours, and hours....and still more hours, went into re-creating this amazing dress. It will be hard to part with. Included with the dress will be the six tiered hoop underskirt (dress was photographed with hoop skirt underneath) Women's US Dress Size 6/8 MeasurementsBust 36"Waist 27-28"Hips FreeSkirt length from natural waist: 45" Don't forget to come back to see all of my listings throughout the month of October.
